FULL SERVICE DENTISTRY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

At Oaktown Family Dentistry we specialize in healthy smiles from birth on. We provide a variety of services including cosmetic and restorative, but routine being the core. Taking care of each patient through routine preventative care allows us to avoid restorative procedures in the long run.

Our dedicated team has a focus on creating a warm & inviting experience for each patient. We do so by establishing a good relationship from the beginning by allowing you to be in control of your dental care.

  • Even the best brushers and flossers can miss a few spots without realizing it. These missed spots can lead to tooth decay, staining, pesky plaque buildup, and even serious disease.

By scheduling regular, professional dental cleanings, our team at OFD can help you maintain and even improve your smile!

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET A DENTAL HYGIENE EXAM?

Dental hygiene exams should generally take place every six months. However, consult with our team to decide how often you should be examined. We may suggest that you visit more frequently based on factors such as smoking, frequency of cavities and genetic susceptibility to tooth and root decay as well as gum disease.

  • Bacteria found in plaque produces toxins or poisons that irritate the gums, which may cause them to turn red, swell and bleed easily. If this irritation is prolonged, the gums separate from the teeth, causing pockets (spaces) to form. As periodontal diseases progress, the supporting gum tissue and bone that holds teeth in place deteriorate. If left untreated, this leads to tooth loss.

The best way to prevent gum disease is effective daily brushing and flossing as well as regular professional examinations and cleanings. Unfortunately, even with the most diligent home dental care, people still can develop some form of periodontal disease. Once this disease starts, professional intervention is necessary to prevent its progress.

  • Each dentist at OFD is trained to perform a comprehensive evaluation of your mouth including the associated structures in the head and neck area. The initial evaluation begins with a detailed history followed by a physical examination of the head, neck, and oral cavity.

  • Dental sealants effectively “seals” the deep grooves, acting as a barrier and protecting enamel from plaque and acids.
